What happens to my domain name after it expires?

When a domain expires, several things happen in sequence:

  • Service Interruption: Your website and email services will stop working immediately as the DNS is suspended.
  • Parking Page: The domain may show a "parked" page indicating it has expired.
  • Auction: In some cases, Hostaday may place expired domains in a public auction where others can bid on them .
  • Deletion: If not renewed or sold, the domain is eventually deleted by the registry and becomes available for anyone to register again at the standard price.
