What is the difference between very high, high, medium and low assurance certificates?

Assurance levels refer to how much identity verification is performed by the Certificate Authority:

  • Low Assurance (DV): Only domain ownership is verified. (Recommended for blogs).
  • Medium Assurance (OV): Verifies the domain and basic organization details. (Recommended for standard businesses).
  • High/Very High Assurance (EV): Complete legal and physical verification of the business. (Recommended for banks and major ecommerce sites).
